Something A Little Dark And Romantic

I usually write light-hearted erotic romances so for the Dark Mocha Bites line at Mocha Memoirs Press, I wanted to try something a little different. A little darker.  I have loved horror and dark fiction long before I became interested in erotica. Sadly, there isn't much of a market for erotic horror. Erotica and erotic romance readers don't like the dark stories. They want a Happily Ever After ending and erotic horror doesn't necessarily end that way. Horror readers don't like the sex in their stories unless they like splatterpunk which can be both violent and erotic. And splatterpunk hasn't been popular since the '90s.

Still, I wanted to try something a little darker, and that's how "Alicia" came to be. I based the story in part on personal experience and on my prior work as an advocate for abused women. Sometimes real life is scarier than fiction, but fiction can provide a buffer for the pain and anguish of the real world. Romance novels let women live out a fantasy in the midst of their ordinary lives. Overcoming difficult situations is one way that these stories resolve themselves. Plus the odd, not-quite-right qualities of "Alicia" make the story much more interesting. You (and Eric the hero) aren't quite sure exactly what's going on. I like those kinds of stories; the ones that leave you a bit off-kilter. I write that kind of thing mainly in my horror stories but occasionally it works in erotic romance.

So, be ready for something a little different when you read "Alicia". It's a surreal story that will have you doing double-takes as you read it. What's actually going on? You the reader and Eric the hero have quite a ride ahead of you.

When the love of his life, Alicia, calls him in the middle of the night to report she had been raped, Eric drops everything to come to her rescue. She takes him on an eerie ride through turbulent hours he can't quite comprehend. Alicia may need his help, but her situation is not what it seems.

Excerpt:

Eric ran to the bathroom to brush his hair and teeth. His heart hammered in his chest. He tried to shake off his frightening dream, but he had difficulty doing it. Seeing Alicia standing before him as she brushed her ragged gums alarmed him. Why did she act as if nothing had happened?
This dream was much different from the pleasant dreams he had been having of her lately. He’d dreamt about her ever since he met her one month ago. Each night he dreamed of mundane things they would do as they lived their daily lives together. Showering in the morning. Watching a movie with the kids as they ate popcorn. Making love. Tending to Alicia when she had the flu. Sitting next to each other in the living room, as she played the game Myst and he built a model airplane. He cherished those dreams. They were of another life he could have had if Alicia had been his wife. Vivid and vibrant, those dreams energized him each morning. Full of scent and color, they seemed so real he felt disoriented when he awakened. He had never had dreams like that before. He could not remember most of his dreams, but those of Alicia were so vivid that he thought about them all day long. He felt as if she were a part of his life in another universe. Maybe she was.
Now, he dreamed of her as if she had been pummeled within one inch of her life. What did it mean? Alicia called to tell him that she had been raped. Did he see the aftermath of her rape in his dream? He desperately needed to see her to know that she was unhurt, but he had a sinking feeling in his gut that she was in great danger.

Fairy Tales Are All The Rage!

Fairy tales are very hot right now. The American television shows "Once Upon A Time" and "Grimm" are big hits. "Beauty and the Beast" is the latest fairy tale to grace the small screen. For kicks, I write fan fiction based on "Once Upon A Time". If you'd like to read it, here's my profile with links to the free stories: http://www.fanfiction.net/~rainshowers

I have started a series of erotic retellings of fairy tales. My very first fiction ever published was an erotic retelling of Cinderella. It was entitled "Happily Ever After" and it was about Cinderella's miserable life after the fancy wedding. Suffice to say her fairy tale dreams didn't come true, and she attracted the attention of a magical sex coach to set her on the right path. This coach was no frumpy fairy godmother! I plan to rework that story and self-publish it as a stand-alone. I also wrote a short story entitled "Fountain Of Youth" based on a Japanese fairy tale by the same name. And finally, I wrote "Purr", a short erotic retelling of Puss In Boots. This story covers only a portion of the fairy tale - the business with the ogre. That story is my most popular to date, more proof that fairy tales are a hot ticket at the moment.

Puss In Boots has always been one of my favorite fairy tales because I love cats. I wanted one when I was a kid but was never allowed to have one. The closest I came to having a cat were my hamsters and my salmonella turtle. Not exactly the cuddliest of creatures. "Purr" is more of an exercise in creating a cat-based character and "Trouble In Thigh High Boots" explores a similar character and her life in much more depth.

Cats are fascinating. After all, as Terry Pratchett aptly observed, cats were once revered as gods and they never forgot that fact. Cats have a sauntering walk and a spring in their step. Most of them are graceful although I've known a few clumsy cats. They had four left paws. They can be vicious killers one second and delightful purr boxes the next. The nature of cats and my own observations of their behavior influenced my characters Muca (from "Purr") and Tita (from "Trouble In Thigh High Boots"). These two shapeshifting women are alluring, sexy, and cunning. They shift from cat to woman and back again when the situation demands it. They are independent and don't take kindly to being tied down. They don't like water. They are confident. They suffer neither fools nor threats. I've always wanted to take the most fascinating qualities of a cat and transform them into a shapeshifting character. Hence, "Purr" and "Trouble In Thigh High Boots".  Both the short story and the novella are great reads. I hope you enjoy them.

The success of "Purr" is what prompted me to write two novella-length fairy tales; one based on Rapunzel and another complete version of Puss In Boots. "Climbing Her Tower" is my erotic version of Rapunzel, and "Trouble In Thigh High Boots" is my erotic version of Puss In Boots.

 Blurb:
Tita is a Puss In Boots with a little something extra. Being a magical creature, she shifts from a kitty into the form of an alluring, ginger-haired woman when the situation demands it. And what a situation she finds herself in! Her new master Dylan is a poor man who needs a boost in the world. Sly Tita uses her seductive wiles to pass him off to the villagers and the king as the Marquis of Carabas in order to help both of them gain their fortunes. Her plan is not without its problems. Dylan's malicious brother, Zane, lusts after Tita, and he wants her all to himself, but she refuses to succumb to his treachery. Being a cat first and foremost, she purrs in the arms of her many lovers but her heart belongs to only one man - the king. She hopes that in ensuring Dylan his lofty place in the world the king finds a place in his heart for her. Her life becomes an erotic adventure in reaching her goals.
Excerpt:
Her stiletto heels clicked on the hardwood floor, attracting the king's attention. When he turned toward her, her heart nearly stopped at the unabashed thrilled look on his face when he set eyes on her. She sniffed the air and smelled castile soap and fragrant oil of rosemary. If I didn't know better, I'd think he expected me. Maybe his knights told him I was on my way.
"Ah, cat, you have returned! How delightful!" The king's jolly laugh boomed around the high-ceilinged room. "My sister told me she saw you on the road. Your rabbits were absolutely delicious. I saved a morsel in case you returned."
She smiled and batted her lashes at him. Stop it! You're acting like a peckish school girl with a bad crush! "You are too kind, Your Highness. Before I accept your gracious offer of food, might I offer you another present from the Marquis of Carabas?"
"Another present? Your Marquis is quite impressive. First, the fattest rabbits I've seen in these parts in a long time, and now more gifts! Yes, please, do show me what you have to offer."
Oh, I'll show you much more than you expect, sire. She lifted her knapsack and prepared to open it, but hesitated. The king looked dejected.
"What's wrong?"
"I want this gift to be a special surprise for you, sire, but I can't have you looking at me when I give it to you."
"Well, what shall we do then?"
"I had an idea." She opened the knapsack a tiny bit, reached inside, and pulled out a silk blindfold. "How about we play a game?"
He clapped his hands. "I love games! Cat, you are quite the adventuress!"
Little do you know… "I do my best, Your Highness." She held the blindfold between her claws. "May I approach you and slip this over your eyes, sire?"
"Of course you may."
"You trust me?"
"Why shouldn't I?"
"How do you know I won't shield your eyes and then slit your throat?"
"Because there's something special about you, cat. I can't put my finger on it, but you are very intriguing. I'm willing to trust you with my life."
Her heart melted at his words, and she took great pride in feeling his affection even though he had not yet seen her in her human form. What would he think of her once he saw her long legs, full breasts, and thick tawny hair? Would he ravish her when he felt the warmth from her heart and tasted the sweetness of her breath? How would he react to the tenderness she longed to give him?
When would he remember her, if he remembered her at all? She had never spoken to him or shifted in front of him when she lived in the castle. Her heart ached with love and memories of his tender caresses and playful roughhousing. If only he recalled her!
She walked to him as he sat in his favorite chair, and then she leapt onto his lap. He ran his fingers through her long fur without thinking twice about it, as many humans did when accosted by a cat, although certainly not most. She had met her share of men and women who beat her and threw pans of water at her. Zane's face flashed into her mind. When would she see him again? Tita knew he would make another appearance soon, aware of his cruelty and greed. She shook her head and quickly shoved his memory away. She would not allow him room in her head to ruin her time with the king.
Thankfully, her king was not cruel. She purred with pleasure as he scratched her behind her ears. Ooooh, he found my most sensitive sweet spot! I can't stand it! Let me at him! In a fit of arousal, she rubbed her mouth against his hand, leaving her scent on his skin.
She stared into his deep blue eyes and paused before lifting her blindfold. I wonder if he can see into my soul when he gazes into my eyes. One look will show him a world he's never before seen. She gazed at him, wishing he could read her mind, to sense the love she felt for him.
"You have lovely eyes, cat. The color of a deep sea – quiet on the surface, but I suspect there is quite a bit of turmoil in those depths." He ran one hand over her back, stroking her length until she arched in response. "Your eyes are very human. Long-lashed and expressive. Are you enchanted?"
"In a way, sire, yes I am. But I'm not cursed. I can give you what you need."
"And what might that be?"
"Let me show you." She slipped the blindfold over his eyes and waited for him to sit back and relax. When his breathing eased, she curled into his lap, placing both paws on his shoulders. "Don't be afraid. And whatever you do, don't remove the blindfold. I'm about to give you my surprise."
As her body lengthened and stretched, she stroked his hair. Paws elongated into palms and fingers and she scratched his scalp with her long nails. He moaned and curled his head into her embrace, but as her furry body grew into curvy feminine form, he backed away with a gasp of alarm.
"Please don't be afraid," she whispered in a deep, mellow voice that sang in his ear. "I won't hurt you." She guided his hands from his sides to her bare hips. "Touch me. Feel me."

Welcome Howloween Blog Hoppers! Werewolves and Menages - What A Combination!

Do you like werewolves? How about threesomes? How about FIVEsomes? Now we're talking!

My "Feral Heat" series is about two delightful werewolves, Sam Hightower and Grant Newsome. They work as stagehands at a semi-pro theater; mostly lighting. Sam is the lighter, fairer, and less serious of the two whilst Grant is the dark and brooding type. A perfect combination! These two guys set each other off very well. They are bisexual but they are more attracted to men than to women.

What is it about m/m stories that appeals to straight women so much? You wouldn't think watching or imagining two men play punch the starfish would appeal to the female crowd. But it does. In much the same way straight men enjoy watching two hot women get it on in porn, straight women like to imagine two hot men getting in on in erotica and erotic romances. In addition to the hot sex, they want the romance. The love. The fevered gropings amid insatiable lust and desire for connection. And of course, the Happily Ever After ending.

You will get all of this with my "Feral Heat" series. This series includes my free short story "Fluff The Master" as well as my two novellas "Feral Heat" and "Filthy Leuker". In "Filthy Leuker", Sam and Grant have begun new jobs working for a theater in Seattle. As they hoist fresnels and work up a sweat, they meet Leuker "Luke" Pearce, a dancer with all the grace of a vibrant and majestic elk.

He's also a dead ringer for Grant, which entices both Sam and Grant in obvious ways.

Below are buy links, a blurb, and an excerpt from "Filthy Leuker". Want to win this book? Please leave a comment telling me what you like best about Halloween and I'll choose a winner at random. Tell me anything you like. Your favorite horror movies. Your favorite Halloween candy. Your plans for the evening. Please remember to leave your email address so I may contact you. I'll announce the winner on November 1.

Enjoy the excerpt and good luck to all!

BLURB

Erotic author Elizabeth Black is back. And she brings with her those lusty, bisexual werewolves/stagehands from her hot and sexy FERAL HEAT. This time Grant and Sam have their eyes on the show’s luscious male dancer: Leuker. To keep it all interesting, the lithesome ladies, Lina and Charlotte, are also along. It’s a paranormal, erotic, anything goes FIVE-some. Blame it all on…FILTHY LEUKER.

EXCERPT

Sam Hightower's pulse raced at the sight of ripped abs and muscular thighs. The man who flowed across the stage with such little effort looked so much like his lover, Grant Newsome, that Sam blinked his eyes a few times to make sure his vision wasn't playing tricks on him. Who's the god with the rapt attention of every man and woman in this room?

The two men could have been brothers. Grant's twin wore his hair at shoulder length, thick and full, with tendrils falling in his shining green eyes. Those eyes are emerald green, so green they glow like an aurora in winter. His face bore the same smoldering look of extreme concentration. This man would snap at Sam, turning on him in an instant if he interrupted his train of thought, much the same way Grant grumbled if he did the same thing. Each twist of his hip and roll of his shoulder enhanced the earthy lust his meager leotard couldn't contain. The dancer strutted amid his shorter and less stellar-looking partners bringing a flush to Sam's cheeks. He moved with a grace Grant lacked, but animal magnetism oozed from every pore. Tall and majestic, he glided across the stage is if his feet didn't touch the ground, his elegant form so beautiful he took Sam's breath away.

"Sorry, luv, you're a day late and a dollar short. We've already had him," that sultry and husky feminine voice jarred him from his daydream. Charlotte stood before him with her arms akimbo, hip thrust outward, giving him a cheeky grin. Dressed in tight black jeans and a tighter black tank top that squeezed together her huge breasts, she twisted her bee-stung lips in an amused grin that she once again bested him in the fucking department. "His name's Leuker Pearce and he's a stallion in bed."

"I'd love to pierce him."

"You might be able to," Lina said. The quieter of the two women stood behind Charlotte, her arms wrapped around the gutsier one's waist. Quite the virago, Charlotte's lusty nature thrilled Sam on the few occasions they found themselves in bed together. Or in the back seat of his car. Or those two times in the catwalks with their groans echoing throughout the theater. Charlotte preferred women to men, but Sam enjoyed her touch and smell too many times to count. He teased the woman by sneaking up behind her to grab her boobs. She retaliated by bursting unexpectedly from behind road boxes to squeeze his cock. Despite the sex play, they were buddies more than sex partners.

She and her lover Lina settled in Portland after years traveling on the road. Amazed at how much the two looked alike, he admired their sleek arms and hands, strong from years of painting sets. They could be twins – or doppelgangers. Harbingers of doom. And now his lover's twin writhed before him, making love to the stage as he twirled and leaped. Imagine the fivesome we could have. It would be like something out of a Penthouse letter!

"He swings both ways," Charlotte said. "I can see a hot little threesome there; you, Luke, and Luke's evil twin. You need to be adventurous. You now how much I love adventure."

Should he mention his fantasy fivesome? No, not just yet… "So you noticed the resemblance, too?" Lust tingled the hairs on the back of Sam's neck. That beautiful creature moved like a majestic elk in the Alaskan high country. "What kind of name is Leuker?"

"It's Dutch. He goes by Luke. It's also his middle name. Says his first name is horrible."

"And 'Leuker' isn't?"

Her deep, throaty laugh reverberated amongst the flats. "He told me it's his mother's maiden name. Says it means good-looking."

Sam gawked at the tight ass and strong legs that sashayed across the stage. "Can't deny that."

Want To Know What Your Future Husband Will Look Like? Here's How But Beware!

CONTEST! Want to win a copy of "Monster Mash", the anthology in which "The Face In The Mirror" appears? This story is based on the old wives tale described below. Leave a comment here about anything having to do with Halloween - your favorite Halloween candy, your favorite scary movies, your plans for Halloween if you have any. I'll choose a commenter at random and that person will win the story. Please write your complete email address in your comment so I may reach you. Good luck!

----------

Halloween is coming, and that brought to mind a certain old wives tale I tried out when I was in college. If you are a single straight woman, you may want to take a crack at this.

I recall from my childhood an old wives tale that went like this: if you want to know what your future husband will look like, do this at the stroke of midnight on Halloween: get an apple, a candle, and a brush. Go into a quiet room by yourself. Turn off the lights. Stand in front of a mirror. Light the candle. Whilst looking in the mirror, eat the apple and brush your hair at the same time. As you gaze into the mirror whilst doing all this you will see the face of your future husband staring back at you.

I was a 21 year old, unmarried college student when I remembered this Halloween legend. So, I had to try it.

I told my roommate about it and she wanted to try it, too. We gathered our apples, candles, and brushes and took turns in the dorm room. I stood in front of my mirror in the dark as the bells clanged at midnight on Halloween, and I nibbled at that apple and brushed my hair.

And waited.

And waited some more.

I stared into the mirror but I saw nothing. I was disappointed. It sure looked like I wasn't going to get married at all. I also started freaking out from all the staring, terrified of what might appear in the glass. I got a bad case of the willies and stopped. My roommate tried it and she also saw nothing.

Disappointed, we turned in and went to sleep. I overslept the next morning and nearly missed my 8 am class. My alarm clock had not gone off.

My clock had stopped - at midnight!

Talk about creepy! I felt the prickly things running up and down my spine. I told my roommate and she freaked out too. I later told a few people about our experiment, but I quickly forgot about it.

Many years later, I remembered that little experiment with a sense of dread. My first marriage was an unmitigated disaster. My then-husband was angry and abusive. It took me eleven years to get away from him, since he kept me in a contested custody battle for seven years. I won in the end but by then I was exhausted and a complete mental and emotional wreck. It took me years to regain my sense of self. I'm now happily married for the second time to my soulmate. We've been together for 19 years.

So, if you are a single, straight woman, try out that old wives tale but be forewarned - you may not like what you see.

------

I'm going to promote two short stories; one that is a prize in a contest and one that is brand new. "The Face In The Mirror" appears in the "Monster Mash" Halloween anthology. This story is based on the above old wives tale. See the note at the top of this post for contest instructions. My second story is called "Alicia" and it was released about a week ago. More information below. "The Face In The Mirror" is paranormal fantasy and "Alicia" is romantic horror.

"The Face In The Mirror" is a contemporary erotic paranormal romance based on a Halloween-related old wives tale. The tale goes that if you are an unmarried woman, to find out who your future husband is,you eat an apple and brush your hair in front of a mirror by candlelight at the stroke of midnight on Halloween. You'll see the face of your future husband in the mirror. I love basing stories on legends.
Linda can't resist, so she heads for the nearest mirror.

And finally, "Alicia":

My short romantic horror story "Alicia" is based in part on my personal experience as well as work I used to do on behalf of abused women. Eric gets a call in the middle of the night from the love of his life, Alicia. She had been raped by her abusive husband, and she needs his help. He rushes to her side. She's a complete wreck, and his heart goes out to her. She asks him to find her young son and make sure he is okay. However, no matter how much he tries to make sense of her situation, things are not quite what they seem.

Here are buy links, a blurb, and an excerpt from "Alicia".

Excerpt:

Eric stepped out of the shower and a foul stench—mingled with the crisp peppermint of his shampoo—smacked him in the face and left a coppery taste in the back of his throat. His stomach heaved. Confused, he looked around the room to figure out where the smell came from, but he couldn't pinpoint it. Dread clung to him, dark and sticky, ruining his relaxed mood. The light bulbs over the sink hummed, casting harsh yellow light about the room. He shaded his eyes against the glare, trying to see.

Why were those lights so bright? Something was terribly wrong in his peaceful world, and not knowing what it was frightened him.

His wife Alicia brushed her teeth as if nothing was unusual, while the stink of rot lurked beneath the cool mint of his shampoo. Why didn't she notice the smell?

He leaned towards her to place his hand on her shoulder, and she turned her face towards his for a kiss on the cheek. Ugly, purple bruises darkened her eyes. He pulled away, repulsed and alarmed, not quite sure what he was seeing. One side of her face had swelled to a dark mask, not unlike a pumpkin that had been left outside in the damp earth to rot. An angry red welt encircled her throat like a bloody ribbon wrapped around her neck. Frightened, he reached out one hand but he couldn't bring himself to touch her swollen face. Touching her would make the vision real and it couldn't be real.

Alicia spat in the sink. Two of her teeth bounced against the porcelain. Blood tainted the paste.

"The girls are running late again." Alicia's bloodied mouth leaked crimson and white toothpaste. Why did she act as if nothing strange was going on? He gaped at her, not understanding what was happening. The safety of his home evaporated as she spoke with her raw, torn mouth. "Make them wolf down their cereal, and toss them out of the house before they miss the bus."

Fantastic 4 Star Review For "Climbing Her Tower"

Four Stars!

Climbing Her Tower is an erotic twist to the fairy tale Rapunzel. I sure love a good fairy tale and this hot and steamy tale doesn’t disappoint.

Rapunzel has never known life outside her tower. She has never felt the company of a human being other than Mother, and she has never been in close contact with a man - until Prince Richard of Norwich climbs into her tower one dark night and sweeps her off her feet. Prince Richard introduces Rapunzel to erotic pleasures beyond her wildest dreams, and she wants more! In order to make her both his wife and his sex slave, Prince Richard needs to spirit her away from that tower, but Mother stands in his way. Prince Richard and Rapunzel begin a tantalizing and dangerous adventure in order to be together as one. And "let down your hair" takes on an entirely new meaning in their fevered embraces.
Rapunzel’s been trapped in her tower for twenty two years. Her scary mother refuses to let her leave. She dreams about being able to leave her tower, but she has nowhere to go and no one to go to. Rapunzel gazes out the window, dreaming. She sees a centaur and looking at his fine form and lovely flanks, she feels and unfamiliar feeling, making her squirm inside. When he comes closer, she realizes it is a man on a horse, a fine looking man that makes her feel flushed.

Prince Richard has seen Rapunzel from the distance. He is ruler of Norwich where Rapunzel resides in her tower. When he hears her sing he is captivated. He hears how her mother gets in and gets in the same way, Rapunzel letting down her hair not knowing it is not her mother.

Rapunzel has had no dealings with men, only what her mother has read to her in books. The thought of him taking her like the gods do in books, excites her. Prince Richard cannot believe how beautiful Rapunzel is. She is pure and innocent and goes up in flames when he touches her. She lets him touch her any way he wants, instantly does anything he says. She is naturally submissive to this kinky dominant Prince. Her enjoyment of everything he shows her and does to her binds Prince Richard to Rapunzel. He is as obsessed with her as she is with him. On one visit he tells her that her mother is not her mother but actually a witch. In the days between his visits when she is alone, she masturbates as he has taught her. Her mood swings between his visits makes the witch suspicious. Then the witch catches them!

Climbing Her Tower had more than just Rapunzel squirming! Hot and delicious Prince Richard is a dream. A bit kinky, but that just makes him more interesting. The picture I had of Rapunzel as she was described bit by bit over the course of the tale had me laughing. Maybe that was just my own odd ball view. Prince Richard seemed to love everything about her. I enjoyed every bit of this except one small section. Prince Richard becomes a submissive to Cinderella’s Fairy God-Mother (I’m sure there is a story there!). It just seemed superfluous and totally out of character and seemed to have no real context to the rest of the book. But it was still a hot scene! Climbing Her Tower was loads of fun and if you follow every erotic fairy tale you come across like I do, you are in for a treat.

4 out of 5 Stars For "Trouble In Thigh High Boots"

Fantastic review for Trouble In Thigh High Boots!

Hitherandthee of Night Owl Reviews has reviewed Trouble In Thigh High Boots by Elizabeth  Black.

Title: Trouble In Thigh High Boots
Authors: Elizabeth  Black
Score: 4.00 / 5
Review Date: Oct 18, 2012

Trouble in Thigh High Boots is a delightfully creative retelling of the Puss in Boots tale. It is a tale that has been told myriad times, but never in such a wonderfully imaginative way. The characters are enchanting, and the story flows beautifully. The love scenes are sizzling. I do think it could be developed into a longer novel, but as it stands is perfect for a reader seeking a book not too long or too involved but still full of adventure and romance. All in all this was an enchanting retelling of a classic fairy tale done in a totally new way. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Tita is a woman who knows exactly how to get what she wants. She has an invaluable weapon in her arsenal, and the quick cunning of a fox. What is her most valuable weapon? She is able to shift into a beautiful cat effortlessly. When her feline form is entrusted to the care of her former master’s youngest son, she knew he would take good care of her. In return for his care, she decides to give him the life he deserves, one of wealth and prestige and the king’s ear. Her only obstacles are his scheming, sleazy older brother Zane and a repulsive ogre. But once Tita sets her mind to a task, she never fails to achieve her goals. Take a walk with a gorgeous Puss in boots and meet the charming people she has chosen to love.
