Six Sentence Sunday #1 - Feral Heat

This is my first time test-driving Six Sentence Sunday. I'm curious to see how it works out. Below are six sentences from my erotic romance werewolf novel Feral Heat.

Sam had carpenter's hands from years of building stage sets, and Amelia loved the way they felt on her shoulders. His grip, strong yet gentle at the same time, forced her to lean forward in her chair so he could get to her lower back. Her heart raced at his sensuous touch. Should I allow him to continue? Before she had a chance to think, Grant took her hand and pulled her to her feet.
"Why don't the three of us go upstairs?

Today is Betty Page's birthday, and as an erotica and erotic romance writer, I must celebrate. Here is a video of her doing what she did best - dance and strip! All with a cheeky smile on her face.

Cheesecake Thursday #2 - A Day Late!

Ever since I started my very popular Man Candy Tuesday posts, I've heard from a few men that they feel left out. Poor dears! I can't let that happen! So now I'm beginning Cheesecake Thursdays, a day dedicated to the sexiest women out there. This week's Cheesecake Thursday may be a day late, but it's never too late for cheesecake!

I've decided to start this new series because of my new release, "Things That Go Hump In The Night", which appears in the lesbian anthology "I Kissed A Girl II: More Virgin Lesbian Stories", published by Ravenous Romance. For information on this book, please visit my "Short Stories" tab at the top of this page. You'll find all the info you need about the book there. My short story "Unfolding Her Wings" appears in "Women On The Edge Of Space", published by Circlet Press. This book is science fiction, and it's my first published science fiction story. Whilst this book is not officially released until May 3, you may find it now at Circlet and at Amazon Kindle.

So in honor of my first ever science fiction story with three lesbian characters, here are some futuristic and fantastic images of women, including some by artist Frank Frazetta.

My short story "Unfolding Her Wings" is about Sun and her spouse, Gatria, two women who work in space. Pregnant Sun can't work in zero gravity due to her condition, so she stays on the space station, away from Gatria for several months and she misses her. Their secondary partner Shira keeps her company and provides comfort, friendship, and much more - but Sun wants Gatria! Even though the future promises massive changes, some things remain the same. How to cope? Read the story and see how they fare.

You may find more information about this book at my "Short Stories" tab at the top of this page. Here's more for your convenience.

Blurb:

In these four stories, women explore the uncharted trails of human desire as they rocket through space and transcend time and place. They inspire fear and hope in the face of danger and uncertainty, and the thrills of satiating a hunger for intimacy in a strange new world. Women on the Edge of Space features stories by Elizabeth Black, Shanna Germain, Kaysee Renee Robichaud, and Laurel Waterford.

Space is a place that is full of mystery. Traveling through outer space is a journey unlike any other, letting go of the usual sense of place and time and opening up to new possibilities. Just as one may never find the edge of the universe, one can never truly know why she falls in love with certain people; she can only embrace her feelings, or deny them. To map out the course of a human’s sexuality, as making a complete chart of the universe, is futile, for like space, the capacity for love and desire is infinite.

Space is also a place of escape, where one can let go of all her earthly worries and inhibitions and just drift away, allowing the forces of a more mysterious nature overcome. The space opera combines the improbability of science fiction and the impossibility of fantasy, and when the erotic is added to the mix, our desires can find a place even within the farthest reaches of nothingness. Outside of the earthly limitations of prejudice and discrimination, women can claim space for their own, living how they want and loving whomever they choose, exploring their sexuality in ways they never thought possible.

Excerpt:

[From "Unfolding Her Wings", which is about pregnant Sun and her spouse, Gatria, who live and work in space. Sun remains at home on the space station and misses Gatria, who is away from home working  in zero-G. Sun no longer works in zero-G due to the effect is has on her and her growing fetus. Their secondary partner, Shira, stops by to check  on Sun and feed her breakfast on Gatria's orders. ]

Sun let Shira feed her, since she liked it when Shira took care of her. She and Gatria had opened their relationship to other women prior to marriage, and Shira became a regular fixture in their lives. She rested her head on Shira’s chest as she swallowed hard to alleviate the nausea. Shira’s strong hand rubbed her lower back until her body relaxed. Once she felt calm, she raised her head to stare into Shira’s eyes.

“Do you know that now you are sexier than you’ve ever been?” Shira whispered.

“I don’t feel sexy. I feel like bulging atomic gas. I can’t even work in space because the zero-G will mess up the baby’s bones, organs, my pregnancy weight gain, whatnot. I feel so ugly.” She had mixed feelings about being in space. On the one hand she missed Gatria and their work in zero gravity. On the other hand, she wanted to be home at the space station with both feet planted firmly on the ground when it came time to raise their daughter. She was a bundle of contradictions. She feared her unknown and changing future, and felt more than a little confusion.

“You’re in transition right now. With Gatria’s help you’ll make the right decisions. And you’re sexier than you know,” Shira lowered her head and brushed her lips against Sun’s, who opened her mouth without being asked. Shira’s tongue slipped in, and Sun tasted chocolate and coffee. She’s melting cocoa in her coffee again… The smooth, sweet taste flowed over her tongue as she kissed Shira, and she felt a stirring in her belly as the woman opened Sun’s robe to reveal her large, bare breasts.

“These are especially nice.” She took one plump, blue-veined breast in her hand. “You gained a few cup sizes, Love, and you smell incredible. May I help myself?”

Sun ran her fingers through Shira’s hair and guided the woman’s head to her darkened, hard nipples.

“Mmmm… you taste good.”

“It’s the pre-milk coming from my breasts. How’s it taste?”

“Sweet. Delicious. Gimme more.” She sucked hard and Sun moaned. “Breakfast won’t be ready for another twenty minutes. We have time to play. Get in your massage chair, and let me take care of you.”

Man Candy Tuesday #11

It's that time again - Man Candy Tuesday! In honor of the hot men who appear every Monday on "Hawaii Five-0", I've dedicated Tuesdays to the most mouth-watering man candy out there!

I suppose you've seen the uproar over Facebook removing that sweet photo of two men kissing. Facebook says it wants to avoid obscenity lawsuits. I'm sorry, but what kind of sick world do we live in where a photograph of two fully-clothed men giving each other a sweet kiss is considered obscene? Have you seen the straight, outright pornographic photos that get posted on Facebook every day yet Facebook doesn't remove them or cancel accounts out of fear of obscenity lawsuits? Boys and girls, can you say "homophobia"?

Over the past couple of weeks, I've seen erotic romance writers on Facebook lose their account based on photos they've posted that were considered indecent. I and my colleagues suspect people who don't like what we write are reporting us to Facebook out of a sense of misplaced moral outrage - or in some cases, there are people with grudges against specific erotic romance writers who attempt to nuke their accounts, give them one-star book reviews on Amazon, and worse. I've had questionable friend requests from men who are only interested in cybersex based on my profile picture and what I write. Other erotic romance writers have experienced the same thing. There have also been allegations of sexual harassment.

So, in honor of put-upon erotic romance authors, I'm dedicating this Man Candy Tuesday to them. I'm also including that photo of two men kissing that was banned from Facebook. It's the first one, below. Scroll to the end to read a blurb from my novel "An Unexpected Guest". That book has been getting a lot of attention lately so I wanted to show it off even more. You may find a blurb, buy links, and an excerpt of this paranormal erotic romance novel at my link at the top of this page.

My book "An Unexpected Guest" is published by  Brown Paper Bag Books/Fanny Press . This book is a very hot paranormal erotic romance. If you liked "The Haunting Of The Sandpiper Inn", you will love "An Unexpected Guest". I happen to love ghost stories, and both books are full of scares, thrills, excitement, lust, and ghosts.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT "AN UNEXPECTED GUEST"

An Unexpected Guest by Elizabeth Black is an interesting romance with a paranormal twist that will have you guessing at the outcome all the way through.  Annie is a young woman who has reached a point in her life in which she is tired of doing what others expect her to do.  She is ready to start living and playing by her own rules.  She is the type of character that many women can relate to for this reason. [...] I really enjoyed An Unexpected Guest and definitely look forward to reading it again.  It is an entertaining book for people who enjoy the paranormal romance genre. I love books that keep the reader guessing and unable to figure the plot out too early.  This book falls in that category.  Just when you think you have everything figured out and know how the story is going to end, something happens that leads you in another direction.

Inspiration: A Haunting In Maryland

[This post first appeared on Lindsay Below's blog on April 15, 2011.)

My first two novels have something in common – ghosts. The first one, An Unexpected Guest, was inspired by Vita Sackville-West's short story An Unborn Visitant, about a stick-in-the-mud woman in the early 19th century visited by the spirit of someone important to her who changes her life. I took that story to heart, ran with it, and An Unexpected Guest was born. This book takes place in the fictitious town of Norwich, Massachusetts, which is on the northeast coast between Rockport and Ipswich. I imagine it sitting next to Innsmouth, the fictitious town H. P. Lovecraft created for his horror story A Shadow Over Innsmouth. No, there are no fish people in Norwich. J

Here's a blurb from the book:

Annie's life is in crisis, and it's time for her to change things. She is determined to be controlled no longer by her arrogant boyfriend and overbearing mother: for the first time in her life, she is going to follow her dreams and do something she truly wants for herself. Her dreams lead her to a picturesque Bed and Breakfast by the ocean that is rumored to be haunted. As she throws fear to the wind and opens up to life's new possibilities she meets Jason, whose long blonde hair and cheeky attitude she cannot resist.

The bed and breakfast is called the Abigail Blackburn House, and I based it on a haunted bed and breakfast on Maryland's Eastern Shore. This B&B dates back to the Revolutionary War, and it sits on a river. I had heard about it several years earlier, and after much planning finally stayed there when I was in town for a theater stage crew convention. The story behind the haunting is as follows: British soldiers came up the river and proceeded to set the small town on fire, destroying most of it. Soldiers threw torches on the porch of this B&B, which was originally a brothel. The proprietress swept the torches off the porch with her broom. She made a deal with the soldiers. She would house them, feed them, and allow them to use her services as long as they didn't burn the place down. They agreed, and this B&B was allowed to stand whilst homes around it burned to the ground.  The haunting involves the ghost of the proprietress wandering the halls in the dead of night, checking on her clientele and the women to make sure everyone was comfortable. There have been other sightings as well. The B&B itself is absolutely beautiful, decorated in Victorian splendor. It includes a lovely bar and discounted dinners every Friday night. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, and very homey in that Victorian style I liked very much.

The first time I stayed it was off-season in mid-winter. I was in a room overlooking the river. What a view! I enjoyed a delicious meal and the company of a man I met in the bar. He came to the B&B several times per month to enjoy dinner when in town on business. No, I did not take him to bed, although he was very handsome. We ate dinner together. That night I slept well until about 3 am when I heard a party going on in the room next to me. There was a lot of noise. I managed to go back to sleep. At about 4:30 am I heard heavy footsteps walking up and down the hallway. I immediately thought of the ghost of the proprietress stalking the halls checking on everyone and went back to sleep. I wondered whys she wore combat boots, since her footsteps were very loud and heavy. I felt very safe, secure, and comfortable. Not the least bit scared.

The next day, when I went down for breakfast, I told the clerk about the party and the footsteps. She told me I couldn't have heard anything because I had been alone in the building all night. Yeeeahhh!!!!! The party! The footsteps! None of it could have happened!!!

Of course,  I had to return. J

The second time I stayed I was with my husband. While we slept, someone turned on the overhead light in the middle of the night. I was a very light sleeper and I snapped awake the moment the light turned on. He snored away next to me. I was far too tired to get up and turn off the light, so I went back to sleep. When I woke up shortly before dawn, the light was out. I asked my husband later about the light and he said he had turned it off before going to bed. He didn't get up during the night at all.

So who turned on the light? And who later turned it off?

I heard those footsteps in the hallway again, and felt as safe as I did the first time.  No party this time, though. At least this time there were other guests in the place. I wasn't alone in the building again.

My experiences affected me so much I wrote about them later in An Unexpected Guest.  This book includes information about the flu pandemic of 1918 and how it affected the region. Plus it's a very romantic and haunting love story. The town of Norwich is based on the Massachusetts coastal town where I live. It has all the homes that date back to the 1800s, the ocean, the cliffs, the beaches, and the rustic romance.  If you love a good and romantic ghost story, you'll love An Unexpected Guest. Once you finish it, read my second haunted B&B book, The Haunting Of The Sandpiper Inn.

Happy Cake And Cunnilingus Day!

Today is Cake And Cunnilingus Day! It's another fake holiday, but one with a kick. I first heard about this holiday thanks to men who couldn't see beyond the crass commercialism of Valentine's Day. I'm not here to get into an argument as to whether or not Valentine's Day was created by Hallmark, candy companies, and florists to part the gullible from their hard-earned money. I'm also not here to defend the day from uncoupled people who rightly feel left out on February 14. I turn that day into my own special day, and I know plenty of men and women who do likewise. I celebrate it with my husband and my son. My mom sends me a card every year. It's simply that some men chose to use that day as a launching pad for their own holiday which they believed celebrated men and what they wanted from relationships as well as make fun of Valentine's Day.

It's called Steak And Blowjob Day. Yeah, I laughed too. Steak and BJ Day is one month after Valentine's Day, specifically on March 14.

That day is already very special to me. You see, it's my birthday. So not only did I celebrate my birthday in style, we ate surf and turf. And other things. :)

Women heard about that day and had to create a day of their own, hence Cake And Cunnilingus Day a month later on April 14. I was afraid these fake holidays would go on forever; what with Biscuits And BDSM Day on May 14, Absinthe And Anal Day on June 14, Meat and Masturbation Day on July 14, etc., etc., ad nauseum. Thankfully, it stopped, but I must admit Cake And Cunnilingus Day has a nice ring to it. And I always appreciate some good muff diving. :)

In celebration of Cake And Cunnilingus Day, I'd like to tell you about my lesbian fiction. I've written four lesbian short stories. They are listed as follows:
"Lost In Her Mouth" in my "Tales of Lust and Longing" anthology published by Whiskey Creek Press Torrid.
"Neighbors", in the "Vamps" lesbian anthology published by Torquere Press.
"Things That Go Hump In The Night', in the "I Kissed A Girl II: More Virgin Lesbian Stories" anthology published by Ravenous Romance.
"Unfolding Her Wings", which will appear in the "Women On The Edge Of Space" lesbian anthology to be published by Circlet Press on May 3, 2011.
You may find all four of these books in my Short Stories tab on my web site. Just scroll down until you get to the proper book. Information and buy links are there as well.

Below is my brand new cover for "Women On The Edge Of Space". Isn't it lovely?

So, eat some cake and then eat some pie today. Celebrate a fake holiday that's fun for a change. You'll both enjoy it.
