PopMyCherryReview.com Announces Green Sex Toy Month

CYBERSPACE — April 1, 2011 — DominaDoll, owner of PopMyCherryReview.com—a sex-positive blog that reviews adult products and sex toys—announces “Green” Sex Toy Month for the month of April 2011.  The goal of the campaign is to build awareness about body-safe and environmentally friendly adult products.

“Before I started sex blogging, I worked as a sex toy ‘smut’ peddler in a brick and mortar shop in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  I became quickly aware that not all sex toys were created equally, when I noticed one of the “smelly jelly” toys seeping purple ooze that was definitely not lube.  When I told my employer at that time about it, she said it was fine and to put it back on the shelf.  I quit soon after. ” Doll says.

“From then on, I made it my mission, via PopMyCherryReview, to alert consumers about the potential dangers of sex toy materials and chemicals in personal care products, as well as champion sustainable sex toys, manufacturing and recycling practices by ethical manufacturers and retailers. I’ve written various articles on Lubes and Harmful Chemicals and Phthalates in Sex Toys, and this is the 2nd year that I’ve reviewed only green products for April.”

Aside from reviewing eco-friendly sex toys and natural body-safe products for adults all month long, Doll has also teamed up with several sexuality product manufacturers and retailers to give away 1 eco-sexy prize a day, during the entire month, to 30 different winners.  Her sponsors include EcoSex.ca, Crystal Delights, SexToy.com, PinkCherry.com, TabuToys.com, Good Clean Love, Adam&Eve, Avelli Brands (Ophoria), Blossom Organics, PleasureGalaxie.com, Big Teaze Toys, OhMiBod, MonsieurDubois.net, RubyGlass 21 and PopMyCherryReview Shop.

“It is with pure pleasure that we announce our support of ‘Green Sex Toy Month’.  As a committed signer of the Compact for Safe Cosmetics, Blossom Organics has pledged not only to make safe products, but also to provide transparency and education to consumers about the products we formulate.   We are committed to eliminating the use of toxic ingredients in all personal care products.”—Melissa Jochim, Blossom Organics founder.

Kim Sedgwick, co-owner of Red Tent Sisters and EcoSex.ca, says, “It's great to see a shift towards more eco-friendly sexuality products. However, with so many options on the market and the absence of clear rules about what constitutes ‘natural’ and ‘organic,’ it can be hard to know which products are safe and which still contain harmful ingredients. I'm so happy to be part of the Green Sex Toy Month initiative to help consumers make more informed decisions when it comes to their bodies and the environment.”

Autumn O'Bryan adds, “Sextoy.com is pleased to be part the Green Sex Toy Month.  We value providing our customers with the product choices they want, including ‘green” eco-friendly products and all natural lubricants.  It is good to see the industry changing to offer more sex-positive, body-safe adult products, and we are proud to be part of that change.”

Doll says, “I am optimistic that Green Sex Toy Month will help bring awareness so adult consumers are better informed about the products they put in their bodies.  Because sex toys and adult products are not regulated, manufacturers still get away with selling inferior products that contain harmful chemicals and consumers still buy them.  Hopefully, this will help consumers make better educated choices.”

  1. This is an interesting article. Most people, I think, are so embarrassed over this issue that it remains unregulated.

But think about it this way, a lot of people do or will own a sex toy in their life time (sometimes a whole collection), so they need to know its safe.

I also think this would be a horrible way to get some kind of toxic poisoning or worse cancer.
