Well, love it or hate it, you can’t escape
it- Fifty Shades of Grey is here to
stay, and although it is never going to be held up as a shining example of
English literature, it has bought a lot of curious folk racing to the world of
erotica.
Erotic writing has as many variants and
styles within its genre as thrillers, mysteries, science-fiction and romance
do, and came into existence long before James wrote the phrase ‘inner goddess’
for the first time. But where on earth do you start reading if you’re new to
books that feature sex as the major pivot to their plotlines?
In the months since the Shade phenomena
hit, I have been asked by folk new to erotica, which of my books would be the
best one to try first.
So- here we go, working from my ‘mildest’ story
to my ‘darkest’ or ‘hardest’ story- here comes the KJB Kink-o-meter!!! I should
warn you however, I haven’t earned the title BDSM Queen for nothing...
- My lightest piece of work by far has to be my novella A Sticky Situation. This was my first erotic romance for the Xcite Secret Library, and gave me my very first top 5 place in the Amazon erotica charts!! If you like a spot of food with your sex, then this could be the book for you!
- My next recommendation is The Collector. Part anthology and part novel, the individual stories within this book have been gathered by a young woman on a quest to record as many kinky tales as possible. Some of the stories are romantic and gentle (such as Studio Girl and A Late Developer), others (such as Break Time and Untouched), are somewhat warmer. The tale Dark Knight however, should be left until after you’ve survived reading book 3 & 4 on the list before it is approached...
- If you want a highly erotic romance with hits of heavy kink, with a “will they, won’t they” theme running throughout, then my brand new novel, Making Him Wait (Sweetmeats Press) is the one for you. Set around an artist’s studio, this novel reveals many interesting ways to employ the humble stick of chalk...
- Then comes Not Her Type: Erotic Adventures With a Delivery Man. This novella from the OCPress stable really does cover all bases. It starts gently, but be warned, the kink level rises, and keeps on rising to the point where you think- “surely they aren’t going to do that?” And then, they do...
- The heat is really rising now as we reach my very first full length novel, The Perfect Submissive- there is no escaping it- this is full-on BDSM. When Jess Sanders gets a job at the Fables Hotel, her potential as a submissive is spotted straight away by the manageress of the exclusive ‘adults only’ entertainment service on the fifth floor. Jess’s on the job training is a million miles away from what she expected...
- The Voyeur forces the temperature gauge higher still! In fact, boiling point is imminent! From Xcite Books, this novel is unashamed BDSM with a voyeuristic theme. The story focuses on a threesome run by businessman Mark Parker, who employs two women, Anya and Clara, to carry out his every sexual whim, including a list of thirteen very demanding fantasies...
- Last but not least is The Circus, an e-novella from Sweetmeats Press. This is BDSM with an audience. There are no clowns in this circus. This is dark, and it is placed last on the list with good reason!! Approach with caution...
So there you have it!! Now you know exactly
which Kay Jaybee volume to aim for, depending on your erotic tastes!

others I haven’t mentioned, can be found on my web site, www.kayjaybee.me.uk
