The End Of The World... Again

Let's have some fun. First point - that image above that has been circulating the web is not Mayan. It's the Aztec sun calendar. If you're going to go all doomsday on everyone, at least get your cultures right.

Let's have some more fun. Just about anything could happen today. Solar storms. The earth's poles may shift. Weather catastrophes. Earth heads towards a black hole. An asteroid could hit us. Everyone from your funny uncle to your whacked-out neighbors (you know, the ones with the zombie apocalypse bunker buried in their backyard) is preparing in some way for the Mayan apocalypse. Guess who isn't?

The Mayans.

Yup, they're still around. There are 800,000 of them in Mexico. I watched some silly TV show about the Mayan apocalypse, and a reporter interviewed some Mayans. They'd never heard of the Mayan apocalypse and they weren't worried about it. Some could barely keep that grin of amusement from creeping across their faces. Silly white people. LOL

Here's a quote from a real Maya about the so-called apocalypse:

“We don’t know if the world is going to end,” said Liborio Yeh Kinil, a 62-year-old who can usually be found sitting on a chair outside his small grocery store at the corner of the grassy central square of the town of Uh-May in Quintana Roo state. “Remember 2006, and the ‘6-6-6’ (June 6, 2006): A lot of people thought something was going to happen, and nothing happened after all.”

This year, I'm holding a Post-Mayan Apocalypse Looting Party tomorrow, December 22, 2012 from noon EST until I drop. Head to my wall on Facebook and let's have a blast! Hang out, chat about Christmas, discuss the New Year's Resolutions you have no intention of keeping, talk about books, goof off, and have fun! BYOB. Here's my Facebook page. Everyone here is invited to my party.

I'm also holding the same party at my forum at CoffeeTime Romance. You must be a member of CoffeeTime to participate.

Tuesday's Tales - Picture Prompt Snowy Cabin - Roughing It

Roughing It
By Elizabeth Black

The cabin loomed ahead of Linda, looking uninviting. She hated it. Cold smacked her across the face.

"Linda, would put the groceries in the cart? I'll take them in when I come back outside. BRB!" Before she could answer he headed for the cabin.

"Stay here a second." Pete said as he opened the front door. "I have a surprise for you. You're going to love it. Okay, come inside." She wondered what the surprise was.

She stepped inside and did a double-take at what she saw. Plush furniture sat in the center of the room - a comfortable-looking couch, two overstuffed armchairs, and a hassock to rest her feet. The glass coffee table faced a wide-screen TV larger than the one they had at home. A big butcher block table sat dead center in the kitchen, and the gas stove was the most modern you could buy. A cappuccino maker, coffee grinder, French press, and plate of scones sat on a counter. Next to the coffee goods were a toaster, microwave, Kitchenaid mixer, and Cuisinart.

Linda couldn't have been happier. She ran to Pete and wrapped him in her arms. "I love it! This wasn't what I was expecting at all! Thank you!"

He kissed her. To Linda's surprise he got down on his knees before her. He pulled a small box out of his pants pocket. Linda's heart skipped a few beats. He opened the box and a large cut diamond gleamed in the light. "Linda, will you marry me?"

"Of course I will!" She cried as she tumbled to the floor and scooped him up in her arms. Now that they were alone and time had all but stopped in the dead of the mountains, she knew she couldn't say anything but yes.

------------------------------------------------------------

Would you like to win a copy of either "Climbing Her Tower" or "Trouble In Thigh High Boots"? These books are erotic versions of fairy tales. "Climbing Her Tower" is erotic Rapunzel, and "Trouble In Thigh High Boots" is erotic Puss In Boots. All you have to do is tell me in comments how you plan to spend the holidays this year. Are you doing anything special? Please remember to leave your email address so I may contact you if you win.

Christmas is a festive time of year, and I enjoy it very much. I don't have anything special planned. I like to bake holiday treats, mostly cookies and quick breads like pumpkin bread and banana nut bread. One of these years I will get ambitious and build a gingerbread house. Knowing me and my lack of talent, I'll end up with a gingerbread tenement. LOL Or I'd end up with a graham cracker double wide like this one:

Here are a few gingerbread houses that really impressed me. I especially like the Weasley house in gingerbread:

Here are Serenity and the Tardis in gingerbread:

And finally, the cutest things I've ever seen - ninjabread men! The thing is, if they were really ninjabread men, you wouldn't be able to see them. :)

So there you have it. Some people get really ambitious when it comes to gingerbread houses. Me? I just like to eat the stuff.

Now leave me a comment telling me what you plan to do for the holiday season (any special plans?). Leave your email address so I may contact you in case you win. You'll win one of these two books (your choice). Here's information on both books for you. If you want to read excerpts, go to the links at the top of this page for each book. Good luck!

In order to make her both his wife and his sex slave, Prince Richard needs to spirit her away from that tower, but Mother stands in his way. Prince Richard and Rapunzel begin a tantalizing and dangerous adventure in order to be together as one. And "let down your hair" takes on an entirely new meaning in their fevered embraces.

The Next Big Thing 2: Electric Bugaloo

I got tagged again! Fellow erotic romance writer Lucy Pireel tagged me to participate in The Next Big Thing, in which I answer a handful of questions about a work in progress (my Next Big Thing). Then I'm supposed to tag four people, who continue the meme. I found two to tag, and here they are:

Jacques Gerard

Christopher Beck (link coming)

And here's my Next Big Thing:

What is the (working title) of your book?

Smart Phone (it's not the final title)

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I wondered what would happen if the FindPhone application on my husband's iPhone located my phone in a different dimension.

What genre does your book fall under?

Fantasy

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Jason Isaacs and Helen Mirren

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

George Randall's phone disappears, and when his wife uses the FindPhone app to locate it, it's behind their closet, where it couldn't possibly be, and when he finds out who is calling him and why, he realizes it would have been better for him to never have searched for the phone at all.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I'm submitting it to an anthology call. Otherwise, I hope to see it published in a good magazine.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

It's not finished yet. I'm still working on the first draft.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

Richard Matheson's "Long Distance Call" is the closest, but it's too different from my story. His story was made into the Twilight Zone episode "Night Call". "The Upper Berth" by F. Marion Crawford has a similar feel, although the stories are quite different.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

My husband. He found the FindPhone app. You use it to locate your phone if it's misplaced or stolen. Very handy thing to have. My imagination just took off.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

It's a short story, for one thing. It's creepy because it's something that's close to us all - our cell phones. Every time I pick up my phone and I see an unfamiliar number, I wonder where it came from. Sometimes I think it's best to not answer the phone at all when I see an unfamiliar number. And what if I misplaced my phone, my husband used the FindPhone app to locate it, and it was behind a closet or beneath the floor where it couldn't possibly be? How did it get there, and who or what put it there? And why?

The Next Big Thing

I got tagged! Fellow erotic romance writer Adriana Kraft tagged me to participate in The Next Big Thing, in which I answer a handful of questions about a work in progress (my Next Big Thing). Then I'm supposed to tag four people, who continue the meme. The problem is I couldn't find four people who could continue so I tagged only one: Mary Suzanne

So here is my The Next Big Thing!

What is your working title of your book? Sharon Craig Has A Threesome
Where did the idea come from for the book? I have worked for several sex toys companies, and I became fascinated with the high-end, very expensive, somewhat realistic-looking sex dolls called RealDoll. So I created a contemporary erotic fantasy about a young woman who gets a new job working for a similar company I've called "Babes". This company is all about hedonism and enjoying The Good Life. Sharon is introduced to a world beyond her wildest dreams, and she meets the man of her dreams, Jackson Beale. Her life turns into a whirlwind of sensuous pleasure. This book has food porn. Hot sex. Decadent living. The works.
What genre does your book fall under? Erotic romance. Mostly m/f but some m/f/m menage.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? Sharon Craig falls for Jackson Beale, a man almost too good to be true, and he takes her on a journey of sexual and sensuous pleasure she's never before experienced.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? I want a major publisher to represent this book. I'm also going to shop it to agents. If I get no bites, I'll self-publish it.
