Welcome to the Midnight Seductions Birthday Bash!

My husband and son will have one more birthday, but I won't. See, my husband's birthday is this Saturday. My son's is December 29. He was a tax baby. My last birthday was in March, and it really was my last birthday. If you don't have a birthday between now and December 21, you won't have any more either.

Want to know why?

Ask the Mayans.

According to the latest silly conspiracy theory, the Mayan Apocalypse is December 21. According to Wikipedia (and you know if you find it on Wiki it must be true), the Mayan Apocalypse is "
regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year-long cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date, though none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship."

In other words, we're screwed.

The last time people got all worked up over a silly end-of-world date like this, it was for the Rapture. Of course, the Rapture didn't happen. I, like many like-minded individuals, held a Post-Rapture Looting Party on Facebook the day after the Rapture. I intend to do the same thing this year on December 22.
Want to come to my Post-Mayan Apocalypse Looting Party on December 22? Just friend me on Facebook and hang out with me and all the other looters that day. BYOB! My Post-Rapture Looting Party was a great success. I expect this party to be just as successful. I'm also participating in the Zombie/Mayan Apocalypse Blog Hop Blow Out from December 21 through December 31. It'll be one great big long party from Mayan Apocalypse Day to New Year's Eve! And I'm giving away a copy of one of my books as a prize in a contest. Want to read either one of my erotic fairy tales? Choose between "Climbing Her Tower" (erotic Rapunzel) or "Trouble In Thigh High Boots" (erotic Puss In Boots). The lucky contest winner gets one!

Here's the link to my Facebook page. Join up, friend me, and get ready to party!

I'm also having a contest with THIS post! First, please join my Facebook page if you haven't already. Then, leave a comment about anything you like in my comments. Make sure you include your email address in your comment so I may write to you if you win. Talk about the holidays, your own plans for the end of the world, how you fend off zombies, etc. One winner will get a choice between "Climbing Her Tower" and "Trouble In Thigh High Boots". But the winner better read fast, since you have only about a month before The End Times happens. Also, Midnight Seductions is hosting a contest to win a Kindle Fire! Enter by submitting the proper information below.  Here are the other Midnight Seductions authors. Visit their blogs for more contests and birthday posts.

If this party goes through and the Mayan Apocalypse is a dud, I will have a birthday in 2013. If not... well, it was a good life.

Guest Blogger: Kay Jaybee’s Kink-O-Meter!!

Well, love it or hate it, you can’t escape it- Fifty Shades of Grey is here to stay, and although it is never going to be held up as a shining example of English literature, it has bought a lot of curious folk racing to the world of erotica.

Erotic writing has as many variants and styles within its genre as thrillers, mysteries, science-fiction and romance do, and came into existence long before James wrote the phrase ‘inner goddess’ for the first time. But where on earth do you start reading if you’re new to books that feature sex as the major pivot to their plotlines?

In the months since the Shade phenomena hit, I have been asked by folk new to erotica, which of my books would be the best one to try first.

So- here we go, working from my ‘mildest’ story to my ‘darkest’ or ‘hardest’ story- here comes the KJB Kink-o-meter!!! I should warn you however, I haven’t earned the title BDSM Queen for nothing...

  1. My lightest piece of work by far has to be my novella A Sticky Situation. This was my first erotic romance for the Xcite Secret Library, and gave me my very first top 5 place in the Amazon erotica charts!! If you like a spot of food with your sex, then this could be the book for you!
  2. My next recommendation is The Collector. Part anthology and part novel, the individual stories within this book have been gathered by a young woman on a quest to record as many kinky tales as possible. Some of the stories are romantic and gentle (such as Studio Girl and A Late Developer), others (such as Break Time and Untouched), are somewhat warmer. The tale Dark Knight however, should be left until after you’ve survived reading book 3 & 4 on the list before it is approached...
  3. If you want a highly erotic romance with hits of heavy kink, with a “will they, won’t they” theme running throughout, then my brand new novel, Making Him Wait (Sweetmeats Press) is the one for you. Set around an artist’s studio, this novel reveals many interesting ways to employ the humble stick of chalk...
  4. Then comes Not Her Type: Erotic Adventures With a Delivery Man. This novella from the OCPress stable really does cover all bases. It starts gently, but be warned, the kink level rises, and keeps on rising to the point where you think- “surely they aren’t going to do that?” And then, they do...
  5. The heat is really rising now as we reach my very first full length novel, The Perfect Submissive- there is no escaping it- this is full-on BDSM. When Jess Sanders gets a job at the Fables Hotel, her potential as a submissive is spotted straight away by the manageress of the exclusive ‘adults only’ entertainment service on the fifth floor. Jess’s on the job training is a million miles away from what she expected...
  6. The Voyeur forces the temperature gauge higher still! In fact, boiling point is imminent!  From Xcite Books, this novel is unashamed BDSM with a voyeuristic theme. The story focuses on a threesome run by businessman Mark Parker, who employs two women, Anya and Clara, to carry out his every sexual whim, including a list of thirteen very demanding fantasies...
  7. Last but not least is The Circus, an e-novella from Sweetmeats Press. This is BDSM with an audience. There are no clowns in this circus. This is dark, and it is placed last on the list with good reason!! Approach with caution...
So there you have it!! Now you know exactly which Kay Jaybee volume to aim for, depending on your erotic tastes!

Details of all these books, and a few others I haven’t mentioned, can be found on my web site, www.kayjaybee.me.uk

A huge thank you to Elizabeth for letting me visit today.

Happy reading everyone
Kay xx

Don't Harsh My Cool With Spoilers!

I have a beef.

Yeah, I know I don't want ruin people's online fan club fun by saying to be a bit considerate of those of us who are also fans of the same show but we haven't seen the episode yet. But there you go. Case in point is my experience this morning on Facebook. I found out before seeing the episode what the big deal was with last night's episode of "The Walking Dead".  A few people posted about it on their walls, and I saw the updates on my Facebook feed. The show still made my jaw drop, but knowing what "the big deal" was kinda ruined it for me. Not that I didn't see it coming. Still, I prefer how River Song won't ruin the Doctor's life experiences by smiling and saying, "spoilers!"

I'm not a member of any online fan clubs except for Facebook's "Once Upon A Time" Rumbelle group, but even that group is careful to not spoil things. I normally don't see much detail about a TV show or new movie online because I don't belong to those groups that discuss them. The same applies to Fetlife, Kindle Boards, and Goodreads. Even with those groups, I don't look at the discussions because I know people are talking specifics.

Maybe I don't have a right to complain about this. I know I'm not the only one who's mentioned it. I've seen at least one other person on Facebook say the same thing. I know people who enjoy talking about their favorite shows and movies aren't acting like Lucy in the above Peanuts cartoon. I just wish there was a way of creating a "spoilers" tab in online posts so people like me don't see what we don't want to see and those who want to discuss things are free to do so. I've seen these kinds of spoilers tabs in some forums. The code blocks out the text until you click on it and then it's revealed. Pretty ingenious. I wish there was something like that on more forums, but I guess it means I have to stay off Facebook and especially Twitter until I've seen "The Walking Dead" every week.

By the way, the episode rocked.
