Welcome Guest Blogger Sallie Lundy Frommer!

Welcome guest blogger, author Sallie Lundy Frommer! She's here to talk about her new book, Yesterday's Daughter.

Book Blurb

Yesterday’s Daughter is full of suspense and surprises as the plot develops. It holds a mirror to contemporary society so we can consider our feelings about people who seem different from us, the assumptions we may make about other groups, and the consequences of those assumptions. Yesterday’s Daughter is an emotionally laden paranormal vampire romance novel woven with layers of betrayal, love and loss. Grace Stone, who later learns her true identity is Sapphira, is a loner who survives abuse in the foster care system after being abandoned as a child. A brilliant student, she escapes from her brutal foster parents as a teenager and creates a life for herself. But, her life is little more than existence; plagued with questions about what she really is, a family that she has never known and the never-ending need to keep her differences hidden. She is alone and lonely, believing it will always remain so until Malachi appears in her life. Malachi, a Guardian of the vampire communities, has searched for his life mate, Sapphira, for decades. He refuses to cease searching for Sapphira even though she is believed dead by all. Conflict arises over the decades between Malachi and his family because of his refusals to accept another mate. But his very soul drives him on to continue his search, knowing that he could not exist if Sapphira were not in the world, somewhere.

Sallie’s Bio:
I was born on a farm in the rural South to a family of migrant farm workers. In fact, my family is huge.  Some might call it a clan…:-)  I’m the youngest of 10 children.  Yup, I have six brothers and three sisters.  And yes, holidays are a zoo….

Anyway, at an early age, my family moved to the urban Northeast. No more running in the cotton fields for me….:-)

I now live in the suburban Northeast with my husband and a large assortment of plants. I don’t have any children but as you can well imagine, I have tons of nieces and nephews.

As for my education, I was the first in my family to go to college.  I hold bachelors and masters degrees in Human Resource Management.  But I have nieces and nephews working on PhDs.  Way to go kinfolks!!!!

I guess that’s enough for now.  I hope you’ve enjoyed a peek into my world.

Excerpt from Yesterday’s Daughter:
Malachi had gone very still as cold panic ran through his veins like a locomotive.  Trigon started to speak when he noticed that Malachi had paled and was holding his breath.  “Malachi, what is it?” he asked.  The Guardians stared at him and then he let out a howl, in so much anguish that it burst all the glass in the room, exploding the windows as he fell to his knees.  The Guardians spun around believing they were under some new kind of attack but saw nothing to explain Malachi’s condition.  Stunned silence then filled the room, no one breathed unsure of what was happening or what to do.

The nerves of the Guardians were drawn tight like bows about to be launched.  Their eyes were glowing, sweeping the room, searching the shadows, listening with focused intensity, searching for threats.  Maybe the Harvesters had a new weapon.

Trigon carefully stepped closer to Malachi and tentatively placed one hand on his shoulder.  He whispered the question quietly; afraid of what he might hear to bring such a reaction from Malachi.  “What is it, friend?”

Malachi looked up and Trigon recoiled at the grief and horror in his eyes.  He said one word, “Sapphira.”  They all looked at each other, their unease growing.  They all knew his life mate had been killed in the maturing chambers long ago.  Why was he calling her name now?  Why this murderous rage?  Had he lost his mind?

“What about Sapphira?”  Trigon asked unsure of what Malachi was trying to say.  Malachi’s breathing had returned but he sounded like a wounded animal, his breath ragged and uneven.  Unable to find the words, he thrust his mind out to share information with Trigon. Trigon stilled and the Guardians knew that Malachi was giving him information directly.  Trigon’s face tightened in concentration from the onslaught of information.  As the seconds passed, the Guardians grew tenser.

Tuesday Tales - Sweat Equity

Welcome to Tuesday's Tales! This week's word prompt is "laughter". I like Eric from my last Tuesday's Tale "The Queen Of Sulk" so much I brought him back for another story. I hope you enjoy it. To read the rest of the stories by some fine authors, go to the Tuesday's Tales Web Site

Sweat Equity
By Elizabeth Black

The inside of this rental looked bigger than the outside. What was this place, the Tardis? I couldn't believe my luck. Mesmerized, my heart raced in anticipation of the possibility of living amid oak floors and walnut and plaster walls. My Moroccan lanterns would look great hanging from those walnut cross beams on the ceiling, and I imagined basking in front of that delicious granite fireplace. Eric took me by the arm and followed the real estate agent to the back of the house. We walked a few steps down into a cozy room that faced an awakening garden. The French doors opened onto a patio, and I heard cheery birdsong. Forsythia bloomed by the windows. In the distance I saw a weeping olive whose blooms had just opened. Floral perfume filled the air. I imagined myself planting sage and rosemary in a knot garden beneath that tree.

Yes, I could live here.

Eric had owned a house before we met, and he didn't want to own another one. As far as he was concerned, a house was a hole in the ground and you throw money in it. We couldn't afford to buy a house so we rented a two-bedroom hole in the wall. The place was far too small. One bedroom was nothing but storage, and I had a scorching case of claustrophobia. The maintenance guys never fixed the two out of three broken water heaters in the apartment complex, and they rarely replaced bulbs in the hallway and laundry room lights. There was nothing as much fun as folding underwear in the dark.

I wanted out, and I needed space. Eric knew it but being as much of a procrastinator as I was, he didn't do much about it. Until now.

"I see this room as our bedroom." Eric said as he took me by the hand. "What do you think?"

"I'm stunned. When did you find this house?"

"A couple of days ago. I made an appointment for today, partially to surprise you since I know you weren't expecting to look at new digs anytime soon. I know how unhappy you are in the apartment so I found a few houses for us to look at." He smiled, and patted me on the butt. "I did it because I love you. I want to take good care of you, and we're both miserable in that matchbox."

Overwhelmed with joy, I hugged him so hard he nearly toppled over. "This house looks like my dream come true. I can't believe it's an ocean view. How on earth did you pull that off?"

"It's newly on the market, and it won't be for long. The real estate agent told me the owners live in Florida and want to rent the place out year-round." Eric winked at me. "You know, we're alone for a few moments. There's a walk-in closet in that corner. We can break the place in, see if it's right for us. "

"It's right for us."

"We need to be sure." He slipped one finger down my ass, and I jumped. He nodded his head towards the closet, and tugged at my shorts. A quick glance over my shoulder told me we were alone, but I knew we wouldn't be for long.

"Are you mad? What if she catches us?" I whispered.

"I'm sure we wouldn't be the first." He guided me to the closet.

"You're such an exhibitionist. If there's no risk of getting caught, you're less interested." I protested, but I didn't stop him. I had a bit of a daring streak myself.  Overwhelmed with joy at the possibility of living in a lovely and spacious new home and sudden lust over our momentary solitude, I grabbed him by the arms and dragged him to that closet. Once inside, he backed me into a corner and ground his hips into mine. I felt his erection poke at my belly. So the prospect of getting caught did turn him on! He slipped his hands down the back of my shorts and squeezed each of my butt cheeks until I whimpered in pain. In seconds, one finger slid inside my pussy.

"You're wet," He moaned in his best Barry White voice. "You're such a dirty girl, wanting to get hot and heavy in a closet within earshot of our real estate agent." He twirled his finger inside me as if he dipped into a honeypot and wanted to lick his fingers. I spread my legs to accommodate him, but I was distracted by every pop and creak coming from the house. I heard footsteps tapping on the floor, and pulled away.

"Oh, don't." His disappointment rang in my ears. "I'm so horny I can taste you. Let's have a quickie."

"The real estate agent!" I hissed. "She's coming!"

"She's not the only one!" Eric nibbled on my throat as he pinned me into the corner. His lips crushed mine, tongue dipping into my mouth to dance a tango with my own. My pulse did the Bristol Stomp in my groin, and I wanted release badly. His fingers slid into my pussy as I wrapped one leg around his waist.  I was so wet I could have left a trail.

Excited over the thrill of our forbidden tryst, I was suddenly overcome with the giggles. I couldn't help myself. My laughter echoed in the closet.

"Shhh!!! You're too loud!" Eric groaned as his fingers strummed my clit. He played me like a banjo.

"I can't help it! You're tickling me, too. Stop it!" My laughter bubbled uncontrolled out of my mouth so fast and furious I buried my face in his shoulder in the hope that his polo shirt would drown out the noise.

It didn't.

He etched his name inside me with his finger, marking his property. I was his honeypot, his true love, his soulmate. I belonged to him, and both of us knew it. Overcome with lust and excitement, I howled with laughter as his fingers wrote dirty limericks on my inner walls. Each motion of his fingers inside me tickled intensely, and I writhed against him, my peels of laughter rising around us. I didn't care if the entire town heard us. I was having the time of my life in what might have been my new home.

Five loud raps on the wall outside the closet startled me so much I jumped and nearly lost my balance.

"We have two more houses to look at, once you kids are done in there." The real estate agent could barely keep the laughter out of her voice. "I'll be in the car. Take your time." Footsteps tapped out of the room and out of earshot.

"What do you say we inspect the kitchen?" Eric wrapped his arms around me, holding me so tightly I couldn't move. "It has a gas stove. I'm in Heaven."

"What about the other two houses?"

"I hear they're even better than this one." He took me by the hand and guided me to a large, open kitchen area. A butcher block table held the place of honor in the center of the room. I knew what Eric had in mind, and I welcomed the excitement.

I hopped on the table and spread my legs. "Want to inspect my oven?" I asked, overcome again with fits of laughter.

By the time we finished, we both needed a cigarette and we didn't even smoke.

Tuesday Tales - The Queen Of Sulk

The Queen Of Sulk
By Elizabeth Black

I hate the color yellow because it's so damned sunny and cheerful. That's what it looks like outside - so fucking happy I just want to crawl under my blankets and die. I'd rather sulk and pout than admit the world can be a comforting place. Here I am, sick and miserable with a head cold, and I won't even log into Facebook because all the political griping is driving me nuts. The TV is full of bombings, fires, ambulance-chaser commercials, and cats. I can't stand it.

While I'm making my third cup of chamomile tea, there's a knock at the door. It's the usual three loud raps and two quiet ones - Eric's signal he's arrived to brighten my day.

I could kill him, but instead I answered the door.

"My sweetie!" He cried in that irritating, sing-songy voice he used when he's trying to cheer me up, and I walked away, heading back to my kitchen. "How's my little baby girl doing with her little head cold?"

"Shut up."

"I see you're just as happy as ever!" He plopped a paper bag down on my kitchen counter. "I brought provisions. I know you need them since you haven't left the house yet this morning." He rifled through the bag. "Here you go - Nyquil, Dayquil, matzo ball soup, some kind of antihistamine, and a surprise!"

'Thank you," I mumble, picking up the Nyquil. "I'll take about six of these and wake up next week."

"Nonsense!" He grabbed the Nyquil from my hands before I could protest. When I opened my mouth to complain, he held up one finger. "Uh uh uh! You're getting out of the house today. Take this instead." He held up two Dayquil tablets. I felt so miserable I didn't notice he had torn open the box to retrieve them. He filled a glass with water and forced me to take my medicine. "Drink up! Trust me, you'll feel better in no time. It's just a head cold. It's not like you're dying from pneumonia."

"Don't be so sure of yourself. I feel miserable." I popped the pills and swallowed them with the water.

"That's why you need your surprise." He reached into that paper bag and pulled out a bottle. "Your favorite!"

I couldn't believe what I saw. A bottle of Strega stared at me, daring me to drink it. I love Strega. It's an Italian liqueur whose name means "witch", which was appropriate since I was the one drinking it. I felt like I could leap on a broom any second and curse the day until sundown, but Eric, in his infinite and irritating wisdom, would not allow me to do.

I smiled. I couldn't help it.

"See? I knew it would make you feel better." Eric opened the bottle and poured a small amount into the same glass. "Here, drink this. It'll take the edge off your cold."

I wasn't about to argue with him because he was right. The liqueur was as bright as the sun; a neon yellow caused by the presence of saffron. I liked herbal liqueurs and Strega was one of the best in my opinion. The liquid heated my throat as it burned its way to my stomach. It was strong. I knew I'd feel no pain in no time.

"Now, you get a shower."

"No."

"Yes. You're not cooping yourself up in this sardine box all day. Here, let me open the windows. It's stuffy in here. No wonder you're sick."

"No!"

"Yes!" Before I could protest, he opened the living room windows. "Ah, fresh air. Doesn't that feel better?"

I wasn't about to admit he was right.

"You aren't speaking, so I know I'm right. Now let's get you cleaned up, dressed, and out the door. And no complaining!"

He sat on the toilet while I took a quick, hot shower. The steam cleared my sinuses. Suddenly, I could breathe! I inhaled deeply, enjoying the rush of air into my lungs. I really should listen to Eric and do what he says more often. He's usually right.

By the time I was dressed and my short hair had air-dried within minutes, the Dayquil had already taken effect. He handed me another small glass of Strega. Everything was so yellow and cheerful. The Strega. My yellow t-shirt with sunflowers all over it Eric had chosen. Too bad the Dayquil wasn't yellow. It was orange, which has yellow in it so I guess that counted.

"We're going for a ride to cheer you up. It's 80 degrees and beautiful outside. You're not staying indoors. A head cold isn't that bad. I have another surprise for you."

"What is it?"

"If I tell you it won't be a surprise."

I followed him to his VW Bug - there was that color yellow again - and I stretched in the bucket seat. The shower really did help, and I was beginning to feel better already. Tired and a bit achy with a scorching case of post-nasal drip, but better. I looked around as we drove the back roads by the beaches. Forsythia bloomed yellow in the afternoon breeze. The bright golden sun beamed in the sky. Sunlight refracted in amber shards against the waves. Everything was so bright I slipped on my sunglasses. Even the yellow line in the middle of the road had been freshly painted since the town had enough money in its coffers to pave the roads.

By the time Eric parked in front of my favorite seafood restaurant, I felt immensely better. If I had remained home, I would have spent my entire day sulking in front of a cold pizza and whimpering in bed. As usual, Eric appeared and rescued me from myself. No wonder I love him.

Excerpt:

His penis still bobbed lightly, not fully hardened. She stroked it once, feeling the change beneath her fingers — blood filling vessels, muscles tightening, tendons pulling. It all worked in concert to pull his genitalia up. It filled her hand, soft, but not as warm as she had expected. She frowned a little.
“Are you cold?” she asked.
He sighed in pleasure. “Not even a little. Would you mind taking care of this as well?” he asked, plucking at his shirt.
Jocelyn grinned and began removing it, kissing down his bare chest. That was a novelty for her. All the men she'd been with had hairy chests. She liked this. She cupped his sack and gently massaged the pair of balls while continuing to kiss his abdomen. The shirt caught on his wrists, but he tugged it free. He curled his hands into her hair and pushed her lower.
She paused, not eager to take him in her mouth. It brought back bad memories. She loved the taste of another woman, but found semen disgusting. When he didn't release his hold, she wondered if she should tell him.
“Forget it. I don't want your mouth anyway,” he finally said, pulling her by hair and hip to toss her on the bed behind him.
She nearly screamed. The tug on her hair hadn't been painful, but the roots in that section ached and her hip felt bruised. How hard had he gripped it? She looked down, but her stocking belt covered the spot.
